About
I've had the privilege of calling Credit River home since 1997. Alongside me on this journey are my wonderful family members: my remarkable wife Lisa, a lifelong resident of Credit River, our beloved son Alex, our cherished daughter Emily (who watches over us as an angel), and our loyal companion, Flynn Rider, our furry friend who brings boundless joy to our lives.
Our roots are in Credit River, and our community holds a special place in our hearts. We're active members of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Prior Lake, where both Alex and Emily attended elementary school. Our involvement in the church has not only enriched our spiritual lives but also instilled in us a profound sense of community and service.
Professionally, I've spent over 25 years in the transportation and heavy equipment industry, honing my skills as an operations leader. Throughout my career, I've been dedicated to building high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement—a commitment that has prepared me well for the challenges and opportunities of public service.
My journey into local governance began in the mid-2000s when I was elected to serve as the moderator for the Credit River Township annual meeting. Since then, I've been deeply involved in the grassroots government of our community. In 2013, I was honored to be elected to the Credit River Town Board, and two years later, my fellow board members entrusted me with the position of chair.
In 2017, recognizing the imminent development pressures facing Credit River, I advocated for proactive measures to ensure our community's future. This foresight led to the decision to incorporate as a city—a pivotal moment in our history. Incorporating as a city puts in a strong position to avoid areas of Credit River being annexed by neighboring cities as the market for development remains in demand. Following a special election in May 2021, I had the privilege of being elected as the city's first Mayor, a role I undertake with dedication and passion.
One of the most rewarding aspects of serving as Mayor is the opportunity to facilitate dialogue and understanding within our community. As Credit River continues to grow and evolve, I strive to honor our past while embracing the opportunities of the future. I believe in the power of storytelling to connect us, to remind us of where we've been, and to inspire us to shape a prosperous community.
In my approach to community leadership, I prioritize openness, collaboration, and empathy. I understand that change can be daunting, especially when it affects the places we call home. That's why I make it a priority to engage with residents fostering an environment where everyone's voice can be heard and respected.
As we look to the future, it's essential to acknowledge the multifaceted challenges facing Credit River. We find ourselves at a pivotal juncture, balancing the demands of market-driven development with the imperative of preserving our community's unique character. Threading the needle between meeting regional planning requirements while protecting the preferences of the community. Providing essential municipal services, such as wastewater conveyance, presents a delicate balancing act of keeping costs low ensuring that all residents can thrive economically.
My commitment as your Mayor is to navigate these complexities with transparency, accountability, and a steadfast dedication to preserving what makes Credit River special. Together, we will chart a course that honors our heritage, embraces responsible growth, and safeguards our community's identity for generations to come.
